The coolest coffee table book ever?

Book Display

Stuck for a Christmas present idea? What better than a coffee table book that could settle comfortably on the most design-conscious of coffee tables?

Dominic Bradbury’s Mid-Century Modern Complete does exactly what it says on the cover, giving a comprehensive overview of one of an incredibly fertile design period.

One hundred major and influential designers are profiled in areas such as furniture, lighting, glass, ceramics, textiles, architecture and graphics. Included are some of the mainstays of the Pash Classics catalogue, such as Charles and Ray Eames.

Indeed, one of the tome’s most eye-catching spreads features the Nelson Marshmallow Sofa, a piece of furniture that is guaranteed to not only seat you in comfort but make you smile every time you see it.

Publishers Thames and Hudson asked author Bradbury to compile a list of his favourite Mid-Century Modern designs to mark the launch of the book and, again, Pash Classics’ favourites feature prominently such as the LCW chair by Charles and Ray Eames.

Santa has already received my order for Mid-Century Modern Complete and I plan to spend an evening or two over the festive period looking through the more than 1,000 illustrations, sipping on a Martini and listening to a little jazz, maybe Bill Evans, being wowed by some of the coolest but also most eye-popping creative designs the world has ever seen.
